Celebrating Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools Week is an annual celebration that occurs at different times of the year in Catholic schools in several countries across the globe. In Johannesburg, this week serves as an opportunity to recognise the value of Catholic education and the contributions that Catholic schools make to their communities.
During Catholic Schools Week, schools typically host a variety of activities and events that celebrate the unique aspects of Catholic education, such as school masses, prayer services, open houses, and community service projects. These activities reinforce the mission of Catholic schools, which is to provide a high-quality academic education while instilling Christian values and traditions in students. Catholic Schools Week also offers an opportunity for students, parents, teachers, and community members to come together and celebrate the accomplishments of Catholic schools.
Last week, St David's Marist Inanda hosted Grade 7 students from our fellow Johannesburg Marist Schools- Sacred Heart College and Marists Brothers Linmeyer, and we were blessed that Fr Patrick Dladla, OMI, an old boy , led the service alongside Frs Tshepo and Mukhesh.
The day also allowed the students to develop meaningful interactions as we spent time together as a Marist family and celebrated our passion for Catholic education and personal growth. St David's Marist Inanda Johannesburg is proud to have hosted this event and shared our school's values and traditions. Catholic Schools Week also provides an opportunity for students, parents, teachers, and community members to come together and celebrate the accomplishments of Catholic schools.
We look forward to building these critical connections and fostering collaboration and community as we continue to reflect on the importance of faith-based education and appreciate Catholic schools’ role in developing the next generation of leaders and citizens.
