Survivor's Tea 2021
On Wednesday, October 27th, a number of our Matrics made their final visit to the place where their Marist journey began, at Mini-Marist, in a tradition that has come to be known as the 'Survivor's Tea'. This is a very special occasion for the Matrics that have been in St David's since Grade 0, and gives them an opportunity to reflect on how far they've come since the first day they walked onto campus as young five year-olds to being on the cusp of final Matric IEB examinations.
During this visit, the Matrics treated the boys of Mini-Marist with a war-cry, and a few words of wisdom. The Matrics received gifts from Mini-Marist - including a teddy-bear and artwork they had created in 2009, when they were in Grade 0! They were also gifted with some songs from the youngest Marist students, and one very special song with the following lyrics:
We are the Mini Marists, the best boys in town.
We learn to count out numbers, going up and down.
We draw and paint and colour-in and learn to write our names.
And when we’re tired of doing that, we play some super games.Oh Yes! You are St David’s boys. The best boys in town!
You’ve been here thirteen years, and now you’re quite a man.
We wish you luck on your exams, the easy and the hard.
May God bless you and keep you safe as you write your exams.Oh Yes! You are St David’s boys. The best boys in town.
Stand up, take courage, be a man, now and always."
