Alumnus Nicholas Reimer Excels
We extend our congratulations to St David’s Alumnus, Nicholas Reimer (class of 2007) who was selected as part of the Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans list, an initiative recognising South Africans under the age of 35 who positively impact the country and wider world with innovation and passion focused on creating a brighter future for all.
Nicholas was recognised in the category of ‘Business & entrepreneurship’ for his work developing The Invigilator – an app that allows students to write exams at home whilst still maintaining the exam’s integrity. The app works on entry-level smartphones and uses minimal data in order to ensure accessibility. The Invigilator become South Africa’s most downloaded education app in 2021, conducting over 1 million assessments, and over 20 schools and universities currently utilise it.
In addition to this achievement, Nicholas won the Top-35-under-35 CAs (SA) 2021 competition. The competition is organised by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants to recognise young chartered accountants who achieve extraordinary results in their professional capacity as well as making a significantly positive impact on larger society.
Currently, Nicholas is the co-founder and CEO at The Invigilator, as well as guest lecturing at the University of Johannesburg and for the ITC and APC board courses. He is highly regarded for his investment article publications and analysis of financial topics and events on radio and television. He is focused on his passion for business and education and believes in adding significant value to the academic world, through making education more accessible and diminishing risks involved with online assessments.
