Celebrating Our Heritage in the Prep
In anticipation of Heritage Day on Saturday, the young gentlemen of St David’s Marist Inanda celebrated South Africa’s cultural diversity on Friday 23rd September. Students and staff alike donned outfits representing their heritage, making campus a brightly coloured tapestry of diversity and rich cultural heritage.
The young men of the Prep enjoyed a festive day of proudly celebrating all South Africa’s culture and heritage has to offer. This included a wonderful (and very loud) workshop with Drum Café, with the boys greatly enjoying beating Djembe drums together and making music. The students were also fortunate to watch an outstanding performance by Soweto Zulu dancers. Their acrobatic tricks and narrative dancing left the audience enthralled and wanting more. Our Grade 6 & 7 boys also showcased their dancing skills with gumboot dancing, and the Marimba bands kept everyone dancing to their music.
A picnic with boerewors rolls and braaibroodjies rounded off a day that highlighted all the wonderful parts of our country and showed everyone that there is much to be proud of as a South African.
