Old Boys' Weekend
We were very pleased to be able to welcome our Alumni back onto campus after a two-year hiatus caused by Covid-19.
The Old Boys' Weekend 2022 began with the Old Boys' Assembly on Friday morning, with the Chairman of the St David's Marist Old Boys' Association, Mr Matthew Ramsden (Class of 2000) welcoming Mr Simon Denny (Class of 1994) as guest speaker. Simon is currently CEO of Goldman Sachs in South Africa and in his speech reflected on his time at St David's as well as how his Marist education influenced and directed his life. He challenged the boys to draw inspiration from the school motto and 'take courage' in how they choose to live their lives.
We were blessed to have Fr Deneys Williamson (Class of 2004) open our assembly in prayer and very special to have a contingent of Old Boys from the Class of 2012 celebrating their ten-year reunion as well as to have Old Boys from a range of year groups attend, both in person and online. The Grade 6 and 7 boys joined the assembly as did a number of younger sons' of Old Boys - all of who joined in a spirited warcry. You can view the assembly by clicking here. The assembly was followed by refreshments and a tour of the campus by the senior boys, and a chance for staff to connect with their past students.
The Old Boys came out in numbers on Saturday to support the boys at the Derby Day against Clifton School. The day delivered exciting and passionate play and participation from both St David's and Clifton across sporting and cultural activities. The Old Boys, parents and visitors enjoyed post-match refreshments in the Maristonian Garden, a space designated to become 'the home of the St David's Marist Inanda Old Boys and meeting place for the broader St David's community.'
Our thanks to the many staff, parents and Old Boys who made this a memorable weekend for all involved.
