Champagnat Day Celebration
On Tuesday, 6 June, boys, staff, and families of St David's Marist Inanda came together to commemorate the feast day of our founder, St Marcellin Champagnat. It was a day filled with laughter, sunshine, and a strong sense of family spirit.
We began the day with a whole school Mass, where we paid tribute to St Marcellin and embraced his life's teachings. The ceremony was a poignant reminder of the values we uphold and the legacy we continue to foster.
Following the Mass, the entire school gathered on the College fields for a day of pure enjoyment. From indulging in mouth-watering food to engaging in thrilling games and cheering on soccer matches, the atmosphere was brimming with excitement and happiness. The event truly brought our community closer together.
Our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making this special day an outstanding success. It is through your dedication and hard work that we were able to create such cherished memories and celebrate the spirit of St Marcellin Champagnat.
Proceeds from the day are in support of the Staff Giving Fund. The Staff Giving Fund was established by St David’s staff over 27 years ago in response to the needs of boys in the school, and in keeping with the teachings of St Marcellin Champagnat that exhorts: "To teach children well, you must first love them, and love them all equally." The SGF seeks to fulfil this exhortation by providing boys needing assistance with sports kits, payment for school tours, medical treatment (e.g., glasses, dentistry, assessments etc.), which means that our boys have equal opportunities to thrive at St David's. Many St David's staff contribute to this fund monthly through payroll giving, hence the fund's name. The St David's Marist Foundation manages the SGF.
