Homecoming Basketball Game
On Saturday, the 14th of January, St David's Marist Inanda hosted the annual Homecoming Basketball game between a team of Old Boys and the current 1st team.
This annual tradition invites our alumni back to campus and onto the courts, allowing them to connect with one another, current students, and staff through a shared love for the game. Although the Old Boys side took an early lead, the match quickly became a tightly contested match-up. Spectators were greatly entertained by the game, with memorable highlights including some formidable slam-dunks by Old Boy Sibahle Phangela (class of 2021), and 1st team players Siyanda Radebe and Richard Hao each scoring impressive three-pointers. Ultimately, the Old Boys managed to secure the win, with a final score of 38 -35.
A highlight throughout the match were the student supporters led by our Spirit Leaders, who cheered for both sides and energised the atmosphere with spirited war-cries. After the match, the Old Boys and 1st team led the student supports in the Inanda war-cry, and the Marist bonds of brotherhood were deeply felt by all who watched, clearly exemplifying that 'once a Marist boy, always a Marist boy'.
