Partnering with M. C. Weiler Primary to Keep Girls in School

The gentlemen of St David's Marist Inanda have partnered with M. C. Weiler Primary School, located in Alexandra,  to help ensure that young girls remain in school by committing to collect and deliver sanitary products to the school each month.

Following a Conversation Assembly in 2022 on the topic of Period Poverty, the College decided to join the Pad Princess's #eachonegiveone Sister School Partnership initiative, and started a partnership with MC Weiler Primary School, committing to provide necessary sanitary products to ensure that no child has to miss school due to a lack of sanitary products. This vital initiative addresses period poverty as well as beginning to remove stigma around menstruation.

Each month one of the eight houses in the College is responsible for collecting sanitary pads and distributing them out to the Grade 6 and 7 girls at M. C. Weiler. After four donations to M. C. Weiler at the end of last year, College House were responsible for collecting and distributing sanitary pads for January. Daswa will be delivering in February.

There will be a collection box at reception if any parent or staff member would like to also contribute to the monthly collection.
