Starting Strong at Tour de Maths 2023

31 Jan 2023

St David's Marist Inanda is once again competing in the Tour de Maths competition, which has been greatly enjoyed by the students over the years and aids in strengthening our boys' mathematical and problem solving skills.

Tour de Maths is an inter-schools Mathematics Problem Solving Competition open to high school learners (Grades 8 to 10).

The competition provides a great platform for learning mathematics and interacting with learners from other schools. Each school enters a team of 16 learners who participate by pairing with students from other schools to form teams of 4 learners. On average we have 30 schools participating and 480 learners for each leg. During the year, there are 7 legs throughout, of which St David’s took first place for 6 out of the 7 legs in 2022.

Nicholas Delport and Jonathan Penamula were unstoppable taking first place 4 times as a pair resulting in a split for the final to determine the overall winner. Nicholas came first for the second year in a row and Jonathan took 3rd place. St David’s was placed second as a school for the year 2022.

We would also like to acknowledge Chanukya Doradla and Max Croll who contributed by taking first place in one leg during 2022.

This year we started on strong footing with Max Croll and Warwick Bradford taking first place in the first leg of the competition for 2023.
