Gratitude in Giving: A Thank You From the Foundation
Thank you so much to our St David’s community for the many ways you have supported the Foundation during this first term of 2024. Our donors (St David’s community, corporates and local and international foundations) have donated R3 million in the first three months of this year primarily in support of the following projects and programmes:
- St David’s Memorial Pipe Organ Appeal (R519 000 towards a total of R622 500 raised to make the installation of the Pipe Organ possible)
- St David’s Bursary Fund (R1 100 000) (The Foundation is supporting 18 St David’s bursaries this year)
- St David’s Aquatics Circle (R20 000)
- St David’s Marist Alexandra Social Compact Funding (R600 000)
- St David’s Marist Alexandra Campus Development (R700 000)
R30 000 previously raised by the St David’s Arts Circle, in support of the establishment of the Maristionian, was utilized to install a full sound system in the Maristonian venue in March.
At the Foundation Trustees’ meeting of 1 February a 2024 funding award of R5.4 million was approved to the School – however, with funding that has been negotiated since, funding to the School for 2024 is at this time on track to be closer to R7.5 million. We look forward to keeping you updated during the course of this year as to further developments and projects.
The Foundation’s 2023 Annual Report will be released during Term 2 and Section 18A tax certificates (for donations made to the Foundation during the tax year of 1 March 2023 – 29 February 2024) will be sent out to donors before the start of tax season in July. The Foundation’s Business, CSI and Philanthropy Breakfast will take place on Wednesday 17 July at 7.30am in the Maristonian.
Please do not hesitate to contact us to set up a coffee or a call (foundation@stdavids.co.za) should you wish to partner with us philanthropically for St David’s – either through bursary funding, capital development funding or funding support for the St David’s Marist Alexandra campus and Social Compact Programme. (Donations to the St David’s Business in Education BEE Bursary Fund qualify for Socio-Economic Development and Skills Development points).
