The Role of House Directors and Tutors in developing Marist Values
Dear St David's Community,
As we embark on another exciting chapter in the journey of our Marist family, it is essential to reflect on the pillars that uphold our values and shape the character of our young men. At the heart of this ethos lies our unique house system, led by dedicated House Directors and tutors who tirelessly nurture the growth and development of each individual within our College.
The College is proudly composed of eight houses, each bearing its distinct colour and identity. Guided by the principles of Modesty, Simplicity, and Humility instilled by St. Marcellin Champagnat, our students pledge to uphold the code of honour, striving for excellence in all their lives.
The role of our House Directors and tutors is multifaceted, encompassing not only academic guidance but also the holistic well-being of our boys. With fewer than 20 students per house per grade, the focus remains on the individual, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie within the Marist family. Our House Directors ensure that each house becomes a nurturing environment where every student is known, valued, and supported.
Our tutors are critical in our boys' journey, overseeing their holistic development and providing personalized support where needed. Through mentorship, guidance, and genuine care, they empower our students to navigate challenges, cultivate resilience, and realize their fullest potential.
One of the hallmarks of our house system is the tradition of conversation assemblies, where meaningful dialogue flourishes and bonds are strengthened. These gatherings serve as forums for open communication, reflection, and sharing experiences, building a culture of mutual respect and understanding.
As members of the St David's Marist Inanda community, let us continue to uphold the values of Modesty, Simplicity, and Humility in all that we do. Together, let us strive for excellence, embrace accountability, and leave behind a legacy honouring the Marist man we aspire to be.
With gratitude and anticipation for the journey ahead,
