Start of Term Activities at St David's Marist Inanda
The commencement of the new term at St David's Marist Inanda has been marked by several activities aimed at integrating new and returning boys and their families into the school's ethos and community, and the year started with events like the Stakeholders Welcome function, new staff and new boys orientation, Grade 8 parent information, and a mentor-mentee function.
Grade 8 Orientation
The Grade 8 Orientation programme was executed with planning and enthusiasm, ensuring a smooth transition for our newest members. Led by dedicated staff members and senior students, the orientation sessions provided an overview of the school's values, facilities, and academic expectations. The Grade 8 boys were paired with mentors and peer counsellors, and campus tours and team-building activities aimed to develop a sense of belonging and camaraderie among the boys.
Camps
Grade-specific camps were organised for Grade 8 and 10 students, providing them with opportunities to engage in outdoor activities, leadership challenges, and character-building exercises. These camps served as platforms for boys to develop interpersonal skills, build lasting friendships, and embrace the spirit of adventure.
Induction Services for New Boys
The induction services held for new boys, including those from the Alex Campus, were solemn yet uplifting occasions that symbolised the beginning of their journey at St David's Marist Inanda. We emphasised the values of humility, modesty and simplicity that underpin our Marist ethos and reminded the boys of the requirements for involvement in sports and cultural activities.
Alex Campus
Integrating Grade 8 boys at the Alex Campus into our school community has been a priority. An orientation programme for the boys took place in the Alex Campus. New parent information sessions and an assembly were implemented.
Communication Channels
St David's Marist Inanda utilises a multi-faceted approach to communication, including but not limited to:
- Monthly Activity newsletters and bulletins are emailed to parents, students, and staff.
- The school's official website and app are for sharing updates, event calendars, and important announcements.
- Direct communication channels such as parent-teacher meetings, leadership assemblies, and house meetings are used to address queries and concerns.
