House and leadership system
St David’s Marist Inanda is a proud and traditional institution that bases its leadership programme in the Prep School on the following principles:
- Fairness
- Continued opportunities for recognition
- Continued opportunities for identification
- Organisationally sound identification processes
- Emphasis on recognition and not award. It is, therefore, a responsibility
- Holding our student leaders to the highest standard of responsibility
- Recognising that opportunities exist for continued leadership development
- All young men are capable of leading effectively, appropriately and under guidance
The Student Affairs department, in collaboration with the heads of houses, carry the ultimately responsibility for upholding these principles, considering input from all stakeholders. There are four houses at St David’s Prep School:
- Benedict
- College
- Osmond
- The Bishops
Each house is to be allocated a captain and two vice-captains. They will be referred to as the house leaders of the Prep School. The duties of the members of the house leaders group are at the discretion of the Student Affairs department, and will be communicated to the house leaders group through the heads of houses. The specific responsibilities may be amended and adjusted by the heads of houses as needed, but all house leaders must demonstrate the following attributes, referred to as the Leadership Traits:
- Respect for all
- The desire to serve
- The desire to better the organisation
- The desire to better oneself
- Leading through example
- Trustworthiness
- Marist values
- Independence
- Resilience
- Humility
- Responsibility
