Welcome to the “2024 St David’s Cricket Company T10 Cricket Festival”.

It is always a special time of year, as we welcome all of our Grade 6 Cricketers, and some Grade 5 Cricketers – to enjoy some ‘under pressure participation limited overs cricket’. Once again, this year we have teamed up with The Cricket Company as our title sponsor and partner for this festival and would up front like to thank them sincerely as the leading specialist Cricket & Hockey suppliers not only in Johannesburg but also around the entire country.

One of the highlights of this T10 Festival is that all matches are played on our College’s Main Cricket Fields, which is a privilege and a genuine experience for all the boys. They also get to play on quality grass pitches, and they get to experience much bigger fields than what they would normally experience. Let us also not forget that in just a few years, these very same boys could well be at St David’s Marist Inanda in high school and could be playing on these same fields.

St David’s Cricket at the Prep School is hugely important, and we spend a lot of time working with the boys. We have some seriously dedicated school masters, masters in charge of cricket, a professional cricket coach, a head of sport, and some very committed cricket specific coaches who all go about their business every afternoon so to ensure that we produce top young cricketers and good young men.

Likewise at the College, cricket is a major sport and apart from the numerous St David’s cricketers who have represented South African Schools and the CGL Provincial teams – we are extremely blessed to have no less than 35 players this year who attended the recent final CGL Trials in all the various age groups. For the first time ever, St David’s Marist College is extremely proud to have had no less than FOUR cricketers selected into the official Lions CGL U18A team for their Coke Week at the end of the year.

Please enjoy the 2024 T10 Festival – let us all play it in the correct spirit and always ensure that we are growing and developing our young cricketers as they make their way in this great game. Please also remember to be grateful for our wonderful support staff in our umpires, scorers, catering staff, marketing staff, all other staff members, and especially our diligent ground staff - who go above and beyond in terms of ensuring our fields and pitches are always superb.
